Songwe Regional Referral Hospital is located at Mbozi District Council  area  within the Vwawa Wards in Songwe Region. The construction of the hospital started in 2019 . By July 2022 opened and  become the Songwe  Regional Referral Hospital.

The hospital serve more than 1,186,913 people, when fully developed currently the hospital has medical male wards with only 16 beds, the Surgical Medical Ward have 13 beds, Female wards 28 beds, Labor wards with 18 beds, Post natal wards 26 beds, Maternity waiting 18 and pediatric ward which has capacity of 41 beds. Total hospital bed capacity is 150.

Other services available at the hospital are: - laboratory, Eye, Dental, Pharmacy, RCH, Physiotherapy, Social welfare, X-ray, CTC, pediatrics ward, , Laundry, Canteen, main store and administration. The hospital intends to have a capacity of 300 beds when fully developed along with rendering general and specialized services.

 Despite being Regional Referral facility, it is worth noting that some services are basically not provided due to inadequate infrastructure, Human Resources and material resources.
